Writing a chapter in Dr. Tina Welsome’s Book entitled, “Authentic.” It will launch this year!

Just gonna keep it real as I share the “Why” of my story with ElimuGirls. For me, it will probably be one of the most challenging exercises in my life as it is hard to share my vulnerabilities.

Most know me as happy and jovial, but there are so many layers of complex Latina-ness and assimilation that has forced my hand at knowing what I stand for and why.

The day I met those girls, I met myself. The truth is that they have helped me feel unbroken on every level. I see them. They see me. And now, it is time to share my Mexi-Kenyan story.

New window at #tellurideartcollective by artist @joanieschwarz. Have you been wondering what the paper dresses are? They come from an organization called @elimugirls .

#elimugirls is a 2 year vocational sewing and boarding program for girls in East Kenya started by kindred spirit @cindyrodriquez. The young women embark on learning to make patterns and sew. The paper dress, made out of corn maize flour bags, is their first step towards learning a vocation and building financial independence.
