Kadzo is part of the Pendo Doll Collection

Pendo means love in Swahili

The name Kadzo means “beautiful girl” in Swahili. Kadzo lives in a small village on the coast of Kenya. She loves to sing, tell stories, and make chapati (flatbread). Kadzo dreams of becoming a fashion designer.

Kadzo is wearing a limited-edition wrap dress made in partnership with Tea Collection for their Kenya-inspired line.

Perfectly imperfect, each doll has been sewn by hand and embroidered by Elimu graduates in Malindi, Kenya at our Artisan Maker Space.

Your donation helps fund scholarships, room and board, supplies, and a sewing machine for young women in the Elimu Girls program.

Meet Nancy

Nancy is a role model for her village. She graduated from Heri Sewing College in 2020, and as an entrepreneur, she has a voice, a choice, and a bank account.

Nancy is the youngest of ten children and her widowed mother was unable to educate her children beyond primary school. When she joined Elimu Girls, she was empowered to learn the vocation of sewing. She loves to dance, share stories, and make Ugali (porridge).

Her business will help support her dream of owning a sewing shop.
